Creative Scrappers Reveal #265

This week you're in for a real treat, as Kristine created a sketch that could easily be used for either a pocket page layout, or a regular scrapbook layout.

Here is my take I went with the pocket page style to add to my Memories In Between album.
February 23 - March 1st left side
And here is what Kristine's sketch looked like.
You can see there were several elements that I was able to incorporate into my page despite there difference in pocket sizes.  And here is what I did with the right side of the page.

Here is the spread as it looks in my album.

This is a super fun reveal, because of the diversity of the sketch, I can't wait for you to pop over to the Creative Scrappers blog to have a peek at all the different interpretations.  I certainly hope you'll find the time to join us this month.  Our sponsor is none other than my favourite kit club
Complete as many takes as you like on sketches 265 & 266 (revealed in 2 weeks), link them up using the inlinkz tool on the Creative Scrappers site, and you're automatically entered to win.

Thanks for stopping by today friends, I always appreciate when you take the time to visit.

Birthday Boy

It was sketch challenge day over at Scraptastic yesterday.  Susan once again gave us a great sketch to work with.

Mr Wilson celebrated 4 years a couple of weeks ago.  Isabelle thought he needed to have a cake, so she made him a "cheese cake" out of cheese slices (held together by toothpicks), and placed a candle in it.  Just love this photo of him licking his chops after getting a little taste of it.  The It's My Life kit and Add On kit was full, full, full of all sorts of great October Afternoon, and Elle's Studio tags, and if you know my style at all you'll know how much I love incorporating tags into my scrapping.
Some great stamps in this kit.

This is Susan's sketch.  So many photo placements and/or journal placement possibilities.
Hop over here to see what the rest of the team did with the sketch.  And you can go here  to get yourself set up for a monthly pizza box full of scrappy goodness.

Here are some sneaks of what coming next month.
Worth Wandering Kit
Let Me Go
This Life Noted
So great stuff for you all this month, and the stamps are pretty awesome too, especially the This Life Noted alphabet set.  I can't wait until my box shows up.

Happy Friday friends, hope you're in for a great weekend.  I'm more looking forward to next week, as we will finally be off for Spring Break.  If the weather would only begin to feel Spring-like we'd be very happy campers here. Pin It

Chic Tags & Maya Road Swap

We've got another product swap to share with you over at Chic Tags.

Teaming up with Maya Road was a super fun idea.  I've always been a fan of their embellishments.  Here are the projects I created with goodies from both companies.

Meet my friend Shannon.  She and her family have done life with us for the past 14 years.  Our families have such a nice time when we're together, kids, dogs, and all.  Last August she took her family, and transferred job positions to one in Calgary. I miss her so much.  Life is busy these days, which isn't too much of a change, but it sure is nice to have that person in your life that when you're together you each enjoy the time so much.  Chatting, learning, challenging, and encouraging one another.  I was so happy to receive her text saying she was going to be in Winnipeg for one night recently.  We had the chance to meet for supper, catch up and just enjoy the short time we had together.

The chipboard words, and hearts were so great for embossing.

Burlap, felt flowers, and twine?  Yes please.

As is a habit of mine, I placed my journaling on a hidden tag behind the photos.

And here is my second layout.  My favourite photo from our Fall photo shoot.
I just love the looks on the girls' faces as they threw the leaves around.
I used my silhouette to cut leaves out of gold cardstock, and vellum.  The Happy Place tags are perfect for journaling.
This time rather than embossing the chipboard words, I simply used my Tim Holtz blending tool to add a little distress ink to them.  That cute little ampersand stamp is by Chic Tags, and I may or may not be hoarding a few of those Maya Road heart pennant clips.

Now be sure to pop over to the Chic Tags blog to enter for your chance at the Happy Place collection we're giving away to celebrate our blog hop with Maya Road.  And don't forget to pop over to the Maya Road blog also to enter their giveaway, and see what they're talented crew has created using our Chic Tag products.  Good luck to all.

Little Dude {aflairforbuttons}

Popping in to share a page about the totally spoiled Canine in our home.
Wilson became a part of our family in April 2009.  I am a woman who learned almost promptly after having my first baby to "never say never".  I was never an animal person growing up, and never saw myself with a dog, but alas here we are.
He's smart, super cute, and totally loveable.  The fact that he allows us to dress him up, put props on him (especially at Christmas), and take pictures is just an added bonus.

As soon as I saw these woodgrain flair buttons in the {aflairforbuttons} Etsy shop, I knew I wanted to use them on a simple white background page so they'd pop.

I knew I needed to add a little more dimension to my page to balance out that of the flair buttons, so I used my Amy Tangerine stitching template, and my sewing machine to add a little tone on tone stitching, and voila, done.

I hope I've inspired you to create today.  Perhaps there's a pet layout in your near future.  Did you grow up with a four-legged love, or perhaps you're partial to another type of animal these days. Whatever it is I'd love to have a peek.  You can tag your projects on FB and/or Instagram with #aflairforbuttons and the team will be sure to see it.

First Day of Spring?!?

I'm sharing this layout over on the Scraptastic blog today.  I would love for you to come by, check out my layout, and say hello to me here if you've got a sec.
I certainly hope that your first day of Spring had a lot more green grass, and sunshine in it than mine.

Funk Flashback

I recently browsed through several of my albums and was amazed at how much we've all changed.  Especially the girls.  It filled my heart so much to see these old photos of them that I just had to re-scrap one of the photos.

This old photo of us brought back such fond memories of taking the girls to a fair in the Summer of 2008.  They had so much fun on all the rides.

There really wasn't a lot I needed to say about the photo, especially since it has already been scrapped, but several of the Photo Toppers, and that great patterned paper from the Happy Place collection, had such wonderful words, and phrases already printed on them, that the journaling really was done for me.

Don't you just love when products make it even easier to tell your story in quick and fun way? Handy little embellishments like these photo toppers make it so we can spend more time making memories than scrapping them. I think we can all appreciate that.

Happy Birthday Théa!

Today we celebrate the day this girl came into our lives.  She was such a little peanut, weighing in at 7lbs, 0.5oz, and only 20" long.  Our baby burrito brought with her so much joy and happiness. Three months later, she was as round, as round can be, 100% chub-a-licious!
3 months
From 6 months she would smile and wave to anyone who looked at her, saying "hi, hi".  We use to say she was put on this earth to make me people feel happy.
6 months
She was easy going and content just to "be", also the reason she didn't walk until she was 17 months old.

Today, she is a beautiful 12 year old.  Full of love and a creative spirit, gentle spirit.
She loves to dance, and draw, play violin, and piano, and record secret singing voice memos on her iPod.  I can't believe we've just registered her for Jr. High.  We look forward to many, many more years of watching her grow and become, more and more of the person the Lord created her to be.

We love you more than the sun, and the moon, and the stars in the sky Théa Bean xoxo Pin It

On Pointe

I created a couple of layouts for Paper Issues this week, and want to share them with you all.

Have you seen the new Dear Lizzy release yet?  I just love how super girlie it is.  Being that I have 3 of them, I had no trouble putting it to good use.
Isabelle started taking Pointe this year, and I just love the way she looks in those beautiful satin shoes.  What little girl doesn't think a ballerina is the most beautiful woman in the world?  It doesn't change much as you get any older, I'll be honest.  Belle isn't thrilled that I'm sharing this photo of her, as she's embarrassed that her pointe isn't very good.  Being that I really know nothing about Dance besides what time to get them there and how much I pay for it, I think it looks gorgeous, and therefore deserves a spot in our albums.

I couldn't resist adding that stitched ampersand by Amy Tangerine.

I struggled between both wanting to hoard these wooden buttons, and using every single one of them on this one layout.
I'll have another layout to share with you soon.  Until then how about a sneak of one of my Maya Road layout coming to the Chic Tags blog next week?
The product swap between Chic Tags and Maya Road was pretty fun, and I can't wait to show you what I've created.

If you're looking to get your hands on the Daydreamer Collection, or even the woodgrain cardstock you see in this last sneak, both are available in the Paper Issues store.  Use code: SHERRI and save yourself 20%.

I Count My Lucky Stars

We have a brand new Issue for you over at the Paper Issues blog today called Count Your Lucky Stars.  I decided to play along with the issue (which is our way of saying "challenge" for those who may not know, I was confused when I first heard of them too) and create a little mini album of our family Fall photo shoot.

Our sponsor for this issue is Lori Witlock who graciously offered those of us creating for this issue a cut file from the Silhouette store to work with.  I chose the accordion mini album file #34168 to create with.  Here is what the bare bones of the album looks like.

These little tiny accordion style pockets hold the inserts for the album.  I thought this design was a perfect one to use my brand new My Mind's Eye Record It Journal cards in.  The package comes with 104 cards, plenty enough to use in my Moments In Between album and in other random project such as this.  My embellishments came almost entirely from the Paper Issues March Swag bag.
Pg1 - bits and pieces all from the March Swag Bag with a Studio Calico cut file.
Pg1- back
Pg2 - I used one of the 4x6 MME cards to back the die cut "love"
Pg2 back - the reverse side of the 4x6 MME card
Pg3 - The "life" banner was from a full 3x12 Belle Blvd Trinket sheet that was included in the Swag Bag
Pg 3 - back
Pg4 - more embellies from the Swag Bag (except the laughter sticker from my stash)
Pg4 - back
Pg5 - this cute tag & holder was part of the mini album file
Pg5 - inside tag
Pg6 - The "moments" is actually printed right on the 2x3 card
Pg 6 back - I love that Pinkfresh puffy acrylic star from the Swag Bag
Pg7 - the flair button is from {Aflairforbuttons}
Pg7 - back
Pg8 & 9 - another {Aflairforbuttonsflair}
Last page - the alphas are from my stash
And this is what the album looks like with all the tabs in their pockets.
A sweet little album to store our fabulous Fall afternoon memories.  To see what the rest of the talent PI girls created for the Issue, please hop over to the Paper Issues Blog.

And don't forget if you would like to get your hands on next Month's Swag bag, or any other bit of scrappy goodness use my code: SHERRI to save yourself 20% off your entire order.

Thanks for stopping by today friends.
